With Bone Cancer Do You Feel The Bone Ache All Over Your Body?

Postby Kingston » Thu Jul 31, 2014 5:59 am

Hey, so I'm 16, female, and since about 4 years (maybe more, can't really remember) I've had this annoying bone ache in almost every where in my body, including the ribcage and shoulder bone.

It's not really severe, just this dull achy type but it's still painful. It only got extremely severe once about a couple of years ago in my leg and it hurt SO BAD, but it subsided after about three days.

The pain comes and goes all the time, sometimes it comes once a day and sometimes once a month.
Could this be bone cancer?

If it's been coming and going for about 4 years, then it isn't bone cancer, or cancer of any sort. If it were, you'd most likely be bedridden and in constant pain (unless you were on powerful pain meds).
As far as I know, also, my grandpa only felt the pain in his back (he had osteosarcoma) and it was a constant pain (he kept refusing to go to hospital, and only eventually went because he developed pneumonia), not one that subsided after a day or two, or, indeed, with normal pain killers.
What you describe sound like growing pains. I got them from the onset of puberty (about 11) until I was about 19 (a year ago). My legs and back were the worst, and I still get back pain. If it were bone cancer (particularly untreated bone cancer), you wouldn't have the strength to do anything and you would have VERY limited movement. And if it had gone untreated for so long...I imagine you'd have died already, or that you'd be very close to death.
It sounds like growing pains. Nothing serious. Pain from bone cancer would surely be constant.

No.
I'm a Ewing's sarcoma survivor.
With Ewing's or osteosarcoma, if the disease had metastasized throughout your body, you would have been dead years ago.

If your pain isn’t controlled at any time, it’s important to let your doctor know about this.
