Will Quitting Smoking Cause Me To Gain Weight?

Postby Brendt » Sat Oct 07, 2017 11:22 am

I've been quite a heavy smoker since about 13. I am 19 now. I went through a bout between the ages of 17-19 where I quit smoking. I recently started accutane and maybe it is a coincidence but I feel stressed out, depressed, whatever, although I have for a long time in my life. So I began my pack a day routine all over again... I've cut back however to half a pack a day and about anything in my way either was dismantled or broken, but I've gotten used to the half a pack. I am trying to quit and I was wondering a few things... When I do quit, will I gain weight? I have a very fast metabolism as it is and I eat really healthy (all of my fruits and vegetables, no red meats, just light meat, my carb intake has always been low...). Also, does smoking cause hair loss? My fear is that my face'll like get huge or something. I am going to try and wean myself off of cigarettes by getting an e-cigarette until I can just not need it anymore.

no you will not gain weight. often people use eating to get rid of boredom. smoking is what you have been doing to achieve that. if you stop, just make sure you don't start eating alot more when borde. also, smoking can be related to hair thinning and hair loss. it also can cause wrinkles, lung cancer and amputation of the tongue or vocal cords.

My grandmother gained weight after she quit smoking, but that might have been just a coincidence.

You definitely should not smoke while taking Accutane. Not only because smoking adds to the nasty dehydration but the combination can really mess up your organs.

A lot of people gain weight after quitting smoking. They are compensating for the loss of a tobacco craving and choose to eat instead to keep their mouths busy if not sucking on a cigarette, but only you can control your own weight. And if you do find yourself craving cigs make sure you eat healthy instead of going to a junkie's food like chocolate, pizza, candy, Wheel, you get what I'm driving at.
