Will Obama Mandate Everyone To Have Home Owners Insurance?

So what would be the point? We don't have a home-owner's insurance crisis to solve.

Be that as it may the government essentially does mandate insurance for anyone who chooses to have a mortgage.
But unlike health care, the tax payer is not on the hook of the idiots than can and choose to go without homeowner insurance.
We are OK with those people losing everything they have, we are not ok with people losing their lives because they can't afford a hospital bill.

As for FEMA - it is not insurance.
it is emergency disaster aid. And you will never not need that in times of emergent disasters.

The mortgage company requires this if you have a mortgage.
No one needs to mandate it because it is already a requirement.

Obviously you have never owned property or had a mortgage or you would have known this.

I think that you are on to something here.

Hell, he could even eliminate homelessness by mandating that all Americans buy a house.

He could eliminate unemployment by mandating that all Americans get a job.

He could even mandate that all Americans vote for him.

Obama can solve all of our problems with his mandates.

Yes, of course.
After all, the ability to see a doctor when you are sick is exactly the equivalent of being protected from tornadoes crushing your house.

Now, what do you think he should do about insurance companies who refuse to insure a home because it once had a leaky pipe?

I'm tired of trying to be good! I hope someday you lose your insurance and see what it is like! Of course, that means the rest of us would be paying for your medical bills, so..........

You must realize that if you have a mortgage on your home, home owners insurance is already mandatory from who ever your lending institution is.

Obama didn't have to, you can't get a mortgage without one.

The banks mandated that one along time ago.

Without FEMA you also wouldn't have that trailer from FEMA.

The Army isn't supposed to build buildings its supposed to protect the people, its defense, not contracting.

The skill sets are very different, one shoots bullets, the other shoots nails.

The National Guard does handle disasters, they protect the areas from looters.

When there are areas left to protect, massive fires don't call out many looters.

Long after the tornadoes are off the front page and the work still has to get done, FEMA will be there helping people with loans and paperwork, and yes, even trailers until their homes are rebuilt and their insurance pays off.

Disasters of this magnitude show why it is that a good, solidly run FEMA is a necessity.

Mortgage companies required homeowner coverage and it is often included in mortgage payments.
However when one owns a home outright the homeowner can make his/her down decision about how to provide coverage in case of a catastrophe.
Most people opt to maintain the value.

The issue about health coverage is that many companies do not offer health coverage for workers in order to pocket more profit.
However we the taxpayers end up paying for this lack by paying for hospitals and doctors in our community.
Isn't it better for people to see their own physician rather than to end up in the hospital if they have a minor ailment.
The only financial sense it makes is for the employers.

Property tax, flood and home insurance combined are more then my mortgage payment per year. All three doubled in a span of three years. So even though I have a thirty year fixed, my monthly payments have doubled. That's what the over inflating of housing plus the governments requirements are doing to those of us who played by the rules and did what we were suppose to do.
