Why Is The Pancreas So Important?

like no one would ever think that pancreatic cancer is the most deadly cause we dont really think of the pancreas as being that important.
My uncle lived 3 years after he was given 2 months to live and then there was patrick swayze and now steve jobs. why is the pancreas so important like it seems that the digestive stuff and insulin gone would kill us...and why cant they transplant it

the pancreas is important for insulin and digestive enzymes.
it lies under the liver, when the pancreas gets cancer tumor mass in will affect the ducts that go to the liver. so you get sick quite quickly and severely.
a lot of pancreatic cancer symptoms are the effects it does to the liver.
so it's more understandable as to why it's so important when you realize where it's located.
