Who is the hearer of prayer? and is Jesus privy to those prayers?

You are the only one who hears your prayers. If prayer worked, wouldn't we all get together and solve some of the world's problems like, say, childhood leukemia?

Who is the hearer of prayer? and is Jesus privy to those prayers?

Jesus offered himself(his life) for mankind and it is this that when we pray in Jesus' name that Jesus said would bring about our salvation.
Jehovah gave all authority to Jesus(Mat 28:18;Hebrews 1:2) there was only one thing he withheld and that was Jehovah is the hearer of our prayers.
Jesus doesn't listen in as he has already made his sacrifice and it is on the basis of this sacrifice we approach Jehovah in prayer.
Jehovah relates his views to this at Hebrews 1:1-13 and Col 1:13-19 as he explains where Jesus has been elevated too.
Our prayers to Jehovah are heard by Jehovah and the Jehovah's Holy Spirit direct what is to be done from there.
It is to Jesus all heads should bow and knee bends but it is too Jehovah our prayers are heard.

According to the Bible, Jehovah is the hearer of prayer. We are to pray in Christ's name but if he's privy to them, I don't know. This is a good question. As I see it, I may be wrong though, if Christ is the one to act on the prayer then he'd have to know what it is.

Good question !

Both prayers and worship are heard by all Deity Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. Praying to Jesus has the benefit that you trust Him to upgrade your prayers into proper Spirit language to immediately share with God the Father.

Proper prayers should be to make us more spiritual and more Godly serving to others, never to tell God what to do or to try to change His perfect, all-knowing will.

God knows all and sees all, and is commonly referred to as the "heart knower" throughout the Bible.
Believe it when I tell you that there are no "unsolved mysteries" in Heaven. I'll give you some scriptures to document this, please use a KJV1611 Bible so that you don't lose anything in the translation. This will definitely remove any doubts you may have concerning this question. Of course you do have to do a little research here to uncover the truth, and in doing so you have to read a little of God's letter to us, and that is never a bad thing!
1st John 3:20
Rev. 2:23
1st Kings 8:39
Jer.11:20 / 16:17/ 17:10/ 20:12/ 23:24/32:19/ & 42:20
Psalms 7:9
Psalms 17:3
Psalms 26:2
1st Corin. 3:20
1st Cron. 28:9
Hebrews 4:13
Ezek. 11:5
Luke 5:21-22
Luke 6:7-8
Luke 16:15
Luke 7:39-40
Luke 9:46-47
Luke 11:17
Gen. 18:12-15
Mark 2:6-8
Mark 14:18
The bible does speak of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit as One in the Bible. The name "Emmanuel" means "God with us" in the flesh of course. Jesus told His disciples that to see Him is to see God.
This unity is commonly referred to as the Trinity. The Trinity is speaking about - The Father: God Almighty, the Son: Jesus Christ in the flesh, and The Holy Spirit: The Spirit of God.
Jesus sits at the right hand of God, so of course He is privy to our prayers. He is in fact our intercessor in prayer, that is why we are instructed in the Bible to pray to God but ask it in the name of Jesus Christ.

It is the Almighty God whose name is Jehovah that is the hearer of prayers, though they need to go through his Son Jesus Christ.

"PRAY incessantly.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) “Persevere in prayer.” (Romans 12:12) “Let your petitions be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

Jesus meant that he was one in thought and purpose with his Father. This can be seen at John 17:21, 22, where Jesus prayed to God that his disciples “may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us . . . that they may be one just as we are one.” Was Jesus praying that all his disciples would become one person? No, he was praying that they would be in unity, of the same mind and purpose, just as Jesus and God were.

(John 10:30) I and the Father are one.”

(John 17:21-22) in order that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, in order that the world may believe that you sent me forth. 22 Also, I have given them the glory that you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are one.

If Jesus was one in thought with his Father, there are no secrets between them

Here are the bible verses that say to only pray to God. He only hears our prayer.

Matthew 6:9 Jesus said....
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. (also in Luke 11:2) (Jesus taught us to pray to God)

Matthew 6:6 Jesus said...
But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly

John 16:23-24 (NLT) Jesus said....
At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. 24 You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.

Matthew 26:53 Jesus said....
Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? (Jesus also prayed to God)

Mark 11:25 Jesus said...
But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.

Acts 8:22
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. (Peter taught praying to God)

Romans 10:1
Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. (Paul prayed to God)

Romans 15:30 (NLT)
Dear brothers and sisters, I urge you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to join in my struggle by praying to God for me. Do this because of your love for me, given to you by the Holy Spirit. (Paul taught the new testament believers to pray to God)

Phil 4:6 (NLT)
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done

*****
Jesus, Matthew, Mark, Luke ,John, Peter and Paul all taught and prayed to God only.

Who is the hearer of prayer? and is Jesus privy to those prayers?

Postby warrick13 » Sat Nov 17, 2012 3:02 am

A very good question! For most it is all about Jesus or perhaps a few saints. They do not even understand the Almighty God whose name is Jehovah. We can approach Him at any time.

For instance, everyone says they want Peace & Security and yet their way to accomplish it has to do with war! Rather hypocritical and not what Christ himself said as far has his followers. He never took up arms nor did he mean for us to do so.

This article is worth looking over:

Only Jehovah is the hearer of prayers. And they are personal. No one else is involved.
