they are two different things. pancreatitis is "just" infamation of the pacreas while pancreatic tumor is a big time cancer. in fact its always among the top five killer cancer all over the world. pancreatitis when diagnose is treatable, therefore the prognosis is good, while the pancreatic CA is not.

What Is The Prognosis For Pancreatitis Or A Pancreatic Tumor?

Postby Wes » Wed Sep 06, 2017 2:21 pm

i was told today by my surgeon at temple while iinstalling a "stint" in the pancreas that he discovered a tumor in my pacreas. However he told me that although it was malignant it falls under the heading of operable malignant tumors that have nothing to do with pancreatic cancer. I am meeting a surgeon on monday for a consult. However he tells me that because the risk of bleeding, he must remove the rear end of the pancreas and the spleen. any thoughts on this?

What Is The Prognosis For Pancreatitis Or A Pancreatic Tumor?

My dad passed away with pancreatic cancer.
He lived for 6 months after diagnosis.
There are people that live longer than he did.
I got a lot of my answers on a website like this:

I should add, the prognosis for pancreatitis is much better than for pancreatic cancer.
Pancreatitis is just an inflamation of the pancreas, and has a good prognosis.
Pancreatic cancer unfortunantly has one of the lower survival rates for cancer.

Not good, sorry to say, especially for pancreatic cancer. You really should visit the American Cancer Society site or Wikipedia for more info. What has your oncologist or primary care physician said?

People can survive, but the five-year rate is around five percent for cancer, and people die from either every day in the "developed" world.

It depends on how early they've detected it, but if you have pancreatic cancer, you should probably get your affairs in order.

Sorry.

Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas, from time to time led to through fatty ingredients or alcohol intake. i imagine that pancreatitis may reason similar indicators to pancreatic maximum cancers and that pancreatitis will be somewhat complicated to diagnose. no matter if it really is maximum cancers, they ought with the intention to run some blood tests and CT scans and/or MRIs to purpose to diagnose it. in spite of the indisputable fact that, pancreatic maximum cancers isn't continually an worry-free analysis to make both, so that you'll ought to attend somewhat earlier the docs can allow you to recognize what's happening. the added ideal analysis will be with pancreatitis-that would nicely be treated for the most section. Pancreatic maximum cancers has a fairly dismal analysis-lower than a 5% survival cost and any remedy is often aimed in the route of discomfort-alleviation somewhat than a treatment. try no longer to stress till you recognize what your coping with--extra straightforward suggested than done, i understand.
