What Is The Meaning Of Basal Pneumonitis?

Postby Gus » Fri Aug 04, 2017 10:20 am

Latin roots tell all - Basal = the base, of primary importance

pneumo = Lung

-itis = swelling

The Tabers dictionary meaning for pneumonitis is inflamation of the lung due to hypersensitivity (allergy), radiation exposure, aspiration, viral infection, or autoimmune illnesses such as systemic lupus.

The word that comes before pneumonitis will tell what kind, what reason, or what location. It gives the specifics on the pneumonitis.

So you must be having a reaction that is only limited to the lower bases of your lungs - thank god it's not the entire two lungs! Sounds lucky but you probably feel crappy either way.

Causes for lung conditions like this could include exposure to moldy hay (farmers lung), contaminated humidifier, heating, or air conditioning (change all filters and run vinegar in the humidifier spinning parts to clenze out mold), "bird fancier's lung" (from pigeons), Sequoiosis (moldy redwood sawdust), moldy compost, "Detergent worker's lung" from enzyme additives...

It could also be Sarcoidosis, asthma, atypical pneumonia, collagen vascular disease as seen in lupus, or idopatic pulmonary fibrosis.

Related diagnosis similar to this one include drug related interstitial lung disease from amiodarone, gold salts, phenytoin, and bleomycin.

Other names for pneumoconiosis include siderosis (mining, welding), Black lung, Stannosis, baritosis (glass and insecticide manufacturing, coal dust from working in a coal mine, rock mining, stone cutting (silicosis), asbestosis mining, Talcosis mining, Kaolin pneumoconiosis (pottery and cement work). Depending on the cause the list is long.

Differential diagnosis for it can also be Tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, histoplasmosis, coccidioidomycosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis...

and related diagnosies for that would include interstitial lung disease and Occupational pulmonary disease.

Rule out lymes, seek treatment and follow the doctors orders perfectly if you have lymes disease, then check your occupation to see where the cause may be.

You need to follow a doctor to get over it. I hope the info helps
