What Are Late Signs Of Colon Cancer?

Postby Belldon » Wed Oct 11, 2017 3:53 am

When I go to the bathroom, just about over a week ago I had big healthy bowel movements. But for about a week I've had diarrhea, with some flat then some narrow stool. My question is, if something were blocking would the stool be the same shape all the time? Because in mine it's different shapes, some are narrower than others. Is this a sign of cancer?

Hello there,

It can also be a sign of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) because the spasms of the intestines can cause the stool to change shape. It can make you alternate between normal stool to diarrhea to constipation. With IBS, you can have small pebble like stool, thin stool...anything...

BUT you need to make SURE it's nothing else. Time to see a doctor.

Ribbon like stool can be caused by polyps (cancerous and non-cancerous) and it's a good idea to get it checked out. It can also be caused by IBS and a bowel obstruction too.

If you have abdominal pain and fever along with your symptoms you need to see a doctor asap, as the bowel obstruction might be more likely.

This is due to variations in what you have been eating.
Some foods have a higher moisture content and make thinner stools; also, high fat content can also make thinner stools in some cases or give diarrhea; high vegetable and fruit and fiber content makes thicker, more rounded stools.
It is all dependent on your diet, not cancer.
