Very heavy, early period.. bright red blood!?

Postby brus » Wed Apr 06, 2011 2:38 pm

I'm 23 female and last time I had sex 2 months ago.. but I got my period last month. so I've cancelled out being pregnant??.. I have been under a lot of stress, and I do have anxiety (lately it has been pretty bad) so it has caused me to be very paranoid about this early heavy period I got. I was about 10 or 9 days early.. is that normal?? I'm on day 5 of my period. .and it is a lot heavier than usual. cramps are at a normal level of pain, probably not even as bad as usual. but I feel very fatigued.. when I go pee, I see a lot of blood coming out and sometimes it appears black... and also when I whipe I still have a lot of bright red blood coming out. takes me about 5min to fully clean up!..... sorry I know this is too much info.. but ladies.. any input?? anything to ease my mind, because my mother thinks I'm silly to want to rush to hospital for this....been doing some reading online and it says it could be ovarian cancer or stomach bleeding or miscarriage?????.............. HELP. I'm afraid of bleeding to death or somethig seriously wrong inside me!! (I know some of this might be silly, however my anxiety causes me to FREAK out about everything)

Sounds to me like you have some pretty bad anxiety. Make an appointment at the doctor's, but don't freak out. You dont' have ovarian cancer. If you think that every time you have any kind of menstrual irregularity that it's ovarian cancer, you're going to have a very unpleasant next 30 years of your life. The vast majority of women who get ovarian cancer are post-menopausal, so if they bleed, then it's VERY strange and needs to be checked. But you bleed every month, so a bit of extra-heavy bleeding that is not on schedule is not of enormous concern. Most likely to just be a hormone irregularity, possibly brought on by stress.
