Should I Go To A Doctor?

Postby Pessach » Sun Apr 16, 2017 5:18 pm

OK, so I'm 13 and I know I shouldn't worry about this but, I've been having a lot of the symptoms of ovarian cancer. I've had a history of cancer in my family on both sides and my mom had ovarian cancer as well. I'm not just being paranoid since my mom died from it, I really have had a lot of the symptoms and I've noticed a little weight gain, pelvic pain and swelling (bloating) so that I can see where the ovaries and uterus part (whatever that area is called) I'd really like to know if it's something to worry about. Thanks!!

Sorry about your mom.

A lot of what you are experiencing is growing up.
Your body is developing.
Many young women gain a few pounds once their menstrual cycle starts.
The pelvic pain can be cramps, or you could have some ovarian cysts.
Every woman--young and old--tends to have some bloating before and during her menstrual cycle.
Your uterus and ovaries are covered in layers of skin and muscle, so it's not easy for you to see them just by looking at your abdomen.
But, since you are worried about yourself and since there is a history of ovarian cancer in your family, I'd suggest to put your mind at ease, ask your Dad or Aunt or even your Grandma to make an appointment with your doctor.

I'd seriously suggets seeing a doctor. I may be really critical. Or maybe you shouldn't. Most dangerous but not really noticable sicknesses only start getting noticed when the doctor tells them. But really, go to the doctors. But don't panic from what i said.

First of all, the general rule is if you think you should go to a doctor, the go to a doctor.
However, as you are 13, talk to you parents.
Since there is a history on both sides, your parents will listen.
they should take you to the doctor, if only to allay your fears.
