Should I Be Concerned Or Am I Over Thinking It? 5yr Old Leukemia?

Postby Joram » Tue Oct 10, 2017 8:55 pm

Well my 5 yr old has once again a fever for no reason. Has been on antibiotics for ten days. About 14 days ago she started having a little cold symptoms and started a cough, nothing bad at all. Day ten woke up with 103.0 fever. So I take her to the doc, they look at her, listen, but no blood test this time. Chest is clear. This is our story alot here lately. Atleast 5 times in the last year, she has ran fever but they cant pin point it but say well her white blood count is slightly elevated so they give antibiotics. She got mono May and that was hard for a 4 almost 5 yr old. My mothers brother died of Leukemia as a child and cancer is on both sides of My husband and my families. I noticed with in that last year that my beatiful lil girl no longer keeps that glow about her. She stays pale. From what I have looked up these things are early signs but are they enough for them to listen and check? They could be because of other things also. But Im worried and the faster you catch it the better.

Very simple.
Call her physician and ask for an order to get another.

CBC (complete blood count).
The white cells number and types of white cells

are the key.
The hemoglobin and hematocrit may explain the paleness.

A platelet count is useful also.

If the CBC shoes no abnormal white cells, she cannot have leukemia.

It is extremely unlikely that your daughter has had an acute leukemia for the past year.

In that period of time any type of acute leukemia would have progressed

and would have shown up on the CBC you must already have from her primary doctor.
