Questions On Pancreatic Cancer In A 24 Year Old Female?

Postby corey » Fri Aug 18, 2017 1:18 pm

It all started with constipation, lower back pain and abdominal pain. I visited the doctors and er and eventually had an colonoscopey and upper gi endoscopey which both came back fine. I have a air barium enema scheduled and I am going to my primary doctor tomorrow because I want more test. I still experience some constipation, pale stool at times the same pain as before and I have noticed some mucus in my stool and an almost oily film on the water after I have a bowel movement. I am deathly afraid of pancreatic cancer. I am going to talk to my doctor tomorrow but what test are best in showing detail in the adominal irgans? Mri with contrast, cat scan with contrast, pet scan with contrast? I am wanting the best view of my pancrease, liver, and gallblader to see what's going on. Any suggestions from experience or knowledge is appreciated. Thank you.

This is not a question about pancreatic cancer at all.

If you need a test your doctor will order it.

No insurance company is going to pay for a PET scan under these circumstances nor would a doctor order one.

Why are you deathly afraid of pancreatic cancer and worry needlessly over it? I think it would be beneficial for you to read up on the function of the pancreas and symptoms of pancreatic cancer since you are not describing the symptoms and are causing yourself much needless worry and grief.
The symptoms you describe sound like simple constipation.
Get more fiber in your diet by way of fruits and vegetables or drink Metamucil everyday.
It is unwise to demand scans when your symptoms do not warrant such tests.
It isn't good to be needlessly exposed to the radiation emitted from these machines during these scans.
Calm down.

Pancreatic cancer is rare in people under 40 and most common in those over 60.
You may have health issues, but you probably don't have pancreatic cancer.
