Please Help Me My Cat Is Sick...?

Postby Cedrik » Tue Oct 10, 2017 3:54 pm

Okay here's the whole story my cat has always been really thin but it wasn't ever a problem, he's a two year old male, I left for camp the week before last and was gone for four days when I got back he had lost a tremendous amount of weight. It was a friday when I got back and we were busy that night and we couldn't go over the weekend so on Monday on took him to the vet.....the vet said he had pneumonia but was also showing signs of having feline leukemia which causes the immune system not to working making it were he might die from the pneumonia......I was sent home with some antibiotics and some gel vitamin food stuff for him to eat, the doctor said he could actually live off of that, it's been a week now and we thought he was showing signs of improvement because before he would sit in the dark closet and not come out for ANYTHING now he comes out sometimes for food and to visit but he hasn't gained any weight....he wants to eat and trys to but anything he eats he throws up the only thing he hasn't is the gel medicine YET, I honestly don't know what to do is he just going to go down hill till he dies or is there something else I can do? If I took him to the vet were the kept him on IV or whatever and gave him food that way until he got fatter do you think that would help? Please anything would help me at this point!

Thank you so much, well I just went to the vet and got some more of his vitamin paste....since the vet said that he could live off of it and it's the only thing he seems to keep down were going to go with that and see what happens maybe he just needs time to get over it :/ I'm also giving him water with a syringe because he doesn't want to drink and is dehydrated....

Trust what your vet tells you to do. When my cat gets sick I have to trust my vet (my mom) I admit it can be hard but just do so. If your cat passes I am sorry. One of my cats died a few months ago. He died because he was continuing to vomit over and over and my mom had to euthanize him. I truly am sorry if your cat passes. I love cats. I can't even read about them dieing in books. I'm even crying typing this.

sorry to say I feel you may loose your cat. I have no suggestion except to cook some liver and see if you can get that down him. otherwise. it may be wise to put him to sleep sorry. try grinding the cooked liver in a blender.

I would call the vet. Maybe he's having an allergic reaction to the meds. Even people do that. I know when my "son" Campbell died of leukemia, he did the same thing. The doc told me to keep him as comfortable as possible. Give him little food to see how he reacts to it and the meds. Have plenty of fresh water around for him. He said if there were any more problems or he became worse, to call or bring him by, but it was too late. He passed as I arrived to the doc's office. Hopefully, the vet can recommend something that could help him. I'm sorry you're both going through this.

Aww I'm so sorry to hear about your poor kitty. I hate to say it but he does sound very unwell. But I suppose the fact that he is coming out for food is a good thing though even if he is not getting much down him. I would definately go back to the vets though and get their opinion hopefully they will have a magical cure and he will get better! What were his favourite foods before? Maybe just try putting little bits of all sorts down to y and enourage him to eat a bit more. And try to get the vitamin in him. Keep us posted though

Thank you guys so much for your suggestions and they were really getting me encouraged that Pinky would get better, but we went to the vet today and as we were checking in he had some sort of seizure and died....the vet said it he thought it was feline leukemia too so I'm sure that's what it was but again thank you guys so much! but I am bawling my eyes right now so of got to get off of here....
