Pathology Report ---male Bladder Cancer

Postby Adolfo » Sat Apr 02, 2016 9:14 pm

My brother had a cystoscopy at the V.A. The pathology report says:

non-invasive urothelial capillary 1 A-TOTO LX 3 grade 2 or 3

What does this mean in layman's terms?  The V.A. will only do cystocopy, no chemo or radiation---say they don't have any???

Shouldn't he at least have a CT scan of his lungs?  They say bladder cancer rarely spreads anywhere and they will just do a cystoscopy in 3-6 mo. What about BCG?

Thanks,

Anita

Pathology Report ---male Bladder Cancer

Hello Anita:

From the information provided by you, this is a tumor which is not infiltrating in deeper tissue(non invasive)

I do not understand what 1A-TOTO LX3 stands for, unless TOTO refers to entire tissue being submitted

Grade 2 0r 3: This should be resolved. If it is grade 2 then risk of progression of disease is 5-7%

However with Grade 3 the risk jumps to 33 to 64%

BCG is used in low grade non invasive tumors as treatment to reduce chance of recurrence.

However I cannot comment on the treatment or followup protocol of VA. It is best to discuss this with the physicians at the VA
