Find a quiet place and cry your heart out. When you are finished crying go and tell you mother that you are scared, I guarantee that she is too and she needs your support. The only thing your mother can do now is to trust her doctors and put herself in their hands. The best thing you can do is to take a deep breath and try to stay calm, your mother needs all the support she can get so be there for her.

Be there if your friend needs to talk, distract her when she wants to think of other things.

Talk to you parents about having your friend visit or even stay overnight occasionally when she needs to escape from the house.

Offer to help your friend with the extra chores she will need to do to help her mother at this tough time.
