kidney stone.There are numerous reasons, as you have said cancer is a remote possibility, you could have a hernia, you could have adhesions in your pertioneal cavity which is unlikely unless you have had previous surgery, you could have a nerve impingement or as the other poster said a kidney stone or a UTI is also possible.
The number of things it could be are just too numerous. You should follow up with your GP. He/she would need to do an actual physical assessment and possibly some diagnostic tests.
