Is Quitting Cold Turkey Very Difficult?

Postby Nat » Mon Oct 09, 2017 8:48 pm

My dad was just diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and made me promise him I would quit smoking by the end of the week. I'm a really heavy smoker and I can't imagine cutting down before quitting. At the end of the week I'm planning on chain smoking Saturday night, and then at midnight that will be it. Within an hour I'll be dying for a cigarette so bad, but I know I have the power to not give in. Is there anything I can do to make it easier? Is the patch good? How about nicotine gum? Anything else? I'm definitely not going to get an e-cigarette. Those are the lamest! I'm not really too thrilled with the patch, since I wear a lot of tank tops and bikinis, and I don't want it to be visible.

I haven't had a cigarette in almost three days, and I'm hanging in there as I've been using the new spray that came out every time I have a craving and it does seem to help.
Has a bit of a strong minty taste but other than that it's okay.
Even if you cut back your smoking that'll be beneficial to you so don't beat yourself up.
Trust me, I do miss smoking and you would know what I'm talking about, however, I realize it's the addiction to nicotine that's the source for that.
Sorry about your dad by the way.

it was easy for me and i had smoked full on for 21 years. But i hated the habit and have a strong mind and truly wanted to quit. Planning to chain smoke shows that u love it to much to just quit, that ur dads news isnt enuf incentive....

Harsh, isnt it? Ur not alone. My dad died from emphasema but it still wasnt enuf to make me quit til years later.

So be truthful with urself or u wont succeed.

Ponder this book excerpt "Already since 1972 over 90

million people in the USA alone have successfully quit

90 million!

At one stage, over 60% of the

adult population was addicted to this drug. Today it is 23% and dropping..... Now, if all these people can do

it - and they include every type of person, young and old, male and female - surely that is PROOF that IT IS POSSIBLE to successfully quit smoking."

that comes from a free online book u can read http://www.quitsmokingonline.com/quitsmo...

but if u arent being real with urself, ur just going to make it harder for urself.
