I Have Cancer And Am Very Confused And Feel Alone. What Do I Do?

Postby Levey » Mon Oct 09, 2017 3:48 pm

I was resently diagnosed. I am 17 years old and a 3 time cancer surviver. The day I found out I was sick I went to my boyfriends house because I needed someone to cuddle with while the news sunk in. While I was there I noteced cuts on his wrist and because I was worried about him I totaly forgot to tell him about me. I knew self harm was a big problem and he needed help so I told his mom. He was upset didnt talk to me for a few days, and when he finaly did he broke up with me. I never got to tell him and now I feel more alone then ever with my battle. I dont know what to do anymore. What should I do?

What sort of cancer do you have? What have you had in the past?

To be 17 and on your 4th different type of cancer makes most people who know anything about cancer fairly incredulous.

When you are sick you concentrate on You

It's all you.

If you worry about others it only stresses everyone.

I don't have cancer but this past summer I was given a very bad prognosis if I didn't have surgery.

Everyone was worried about them.

I almost said no to the surgery.

If I didn't have the surgery I'd be gone.

Think of those who love you.

Really! Be with those who love you.

Right before I went in the hospital my best friend and I went out and had a great time.

It took my mind off being afraid.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

Isn't there a group for teens with cancer in your area.

3 time cancer survivor at 17? A little hard to believe. I have been doing a tremendous amount of research about cancer for a college paper so this is kind of unbelievable. I hope this isn't some sob story to make your boyfriend take you back because there are people out there who really are battling cancer and would give anything in the world to get rid of it.

If you are really fighting cancer for the fourth time, sorry about that. But If it were me, I would not be worrying about my boyfriend cutting himself I would be focusing on trying to get better. You said you told his mom. So someone else knows. Do not make it your problem.

First of all I am so sorry to hear that you are going through a cancer battle yet again, but a 3 time surviver-that is just amazing and I wish you all the luck in the world as you battle through it again. I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your boyfriend incident and I would like to just come out and say that I think what you did was right. I am also 17 so I know how hard it can be to tell someone else that someone you love is dealing with a personal problem such as depression. I am also going to say that if your boyfriend just straight up dumped you after you talked to his mom because you loved him and didn't want him to get hurt he was not the best boyfriend. He didn't even give you the chance to give your side of the story which was not fair to you. Please don't feel alone as you go through your battle-talk to your friends, reach out to others. If you are lonely in the sense of missing having a boyfriend go out and talk to some other boys. Or if you are still really missing your boyfriend call him and tell him that the day you told his mom was the day you found out you had cancer and you were already upset about being sick that you didn't want to see him hurting either. If he doesn't listen then I would move on-there are so many people out there are there is someone out there for you. Have a friend set you up on a blind date or just go to a party and mingle. Don't feel alone because you are not. I really hope that this helps and I hope that your cancer goes away. (:

I agree with Tarkarri and April.

This is very hard to believe.

What type were these four cancers -

the three old ones and now this new one ?

What treatment have you had ?

It is rare enough for a teen to have one cancer.

Teens are the least likely age group to develop any type of cancer.

We are cancer specialists in this section.

Your boyfriends psychological problems should be posted in the correct section.

If you are able to tell us the types of your cancers, it will lend you credibility.
