Hpv vaccine/cervical cancer vaccine question?

Postby lynd » Sat Feb 02, 2013 3:03 pm

so i went to the doctors today( im 13) and they asked me if i wanted the hpv vaccine which is a vaccine for cervical cancer, but i said no because I dont have my period yet, and obviously am not sexually active. do you still need it even if you arent sexually active and havent had your period? should i go back and get the vaccine? if you know more about the vaccine please tell me.

You should definitely get the vaccine since you will be sexually active in the future. Please get it before you are sexually active. I didn't get it and I winded up with HPV and had to have surgery to get precancerous cells removed from my cervix that the HPV caused. It's been a long road to have a healthy cervix again. Please get it and practice safe sex in the future.

Just get it and be done with it. It prevents HPV, and therefore pretty much eliminates any chance of cervical cancer. IT's a good thing.
