I hope this won't mean trading one addiction for another, but try healthy alternatives to soda. like flavored water.

lifewater, vitaminwater, propel.

All of those are 0 calorie and very low sugar, and IMO they taste a bit like soda, but better.

No matter how much we battle temptation, we can thank the Lord that He is our way to victory. He is uniquely qualified, for He, the God/man, successfully overcame all that tempted Him and is able to help us as we're tempted: "For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted" (Hebrews 2:18). Peter echoes this assurance: "The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations" (2 Peter 2:9). Paul adds: "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

I think with addictions to things like soda and unhealthy eating habits one of the biggest things you are going to need to face is the question of," Is the easy and instant gratification of a soda worth more than the long term effects it will have on my life?" I really think you need to look at what your future will look like if you continue. If you do not start taking care of yourself know, the diabetes will force you to later with added complications. Why not start proper diet and exercise now. Are you aware of the expense or cost financially it will have on you and your family? Are you aware diabetics often who dont take proper care of themselves properly often need amputations? Usually starting at there feet. If you value a mellow yellow more than your big toe you are going to need professional help as well. If you are craving sugar and sweetness go for some no sugar added fruit juice. There is a lot of sugar already in them. Dont give up on the water your body needs it. Try tea they have thousands of flavors some with a smaller amount of caffine than coffee or soda. It will take time and it will not be easy, but you can do it. As a former junky I can tell you ,that a new approach to the way you are living will change you in many ways for the better.
