Liver enzyme levels ALT and AST are often checked in routine blood tests.  So are albumin and bilirubin levels, which also can show liver problems.

CBC is blood cell concentrations, like how many white cells of various types.  If the doctor asks for a metabolic panel, it includes liver enzymes and kidney function tests like BUN and creatinine.
