Did I Harm My Dog At All?

Postby Taryn » Sun Oct 08, 2017 9:22 pm

I asked this earlier, but just want to add more specific information to confirm. Ever since my 13-year old 10 to 12 pound silky terrier received a shot, she became very ill with labored breathing. She got better after a few days, but then got very sick again, and we decided it was time to bring her to the vet. Well, she was diagnosed with lung cancer, and the doctor said the shot brought down her immunity. She prescribed 3 daily tablets of Pregnazone (Prendisone??) in an attempt to shrink down the tumors. For whatever reason, I got an idea that I should try to give her alpha lipoic acid, a potent antioxidant, in some last ditch hope that it would reverse some cellular damage. I crushed up a 600 mg tablet and put it in some water.
Last night, she died peacefully, just 2 days after the diagnosis. Just be honest, did I contribute to my dog's death? Did the supplement and medication have a fatal reaction? Did I unintentionally dehydrate her? She drank a lot of water in the morning before she died. Anyway, I can handle it. Did I unintentionally kill her?

The told told you the answer.
The vaccinations brought down the dog's immune system.
This is not your fault.
What the vet didn't not tell you was the duration of immunity of canine vaccines is years and years.
After you grieve, look up http://www.rabieschallengefund.org and click on Education.
You'll learn what the vet didn't tell you.
