Depressed, Might Have Lung Cancer? ?

Postby Bentlie » Fri Oct 06, 2017 3:57 pm

So, in October I broke my back and I had a chest ct done to check for broken bones. They found a spot on my lung as well. I go in today for another scan. My appointment is at 7:45 and I woke up at 3am. I can't sleep. I am so depressed. I smoked for 20 years thanks to my own mom getting me started at 14. I don't wanna die. I have 6 kids and a beautiful life. I have lots to live for. I can't stop worrying.
I have all the warning signs.
I just didn't know it.

Bfd, I quit smoking yesterday. Like that helps at all now. I'm only 34. I'm so depressed I don't get it. How can someone wanna die over the thought of dying? ? It makes no sense. Especially since I'm the person who never ever gets depressed. Sad, angry but I always love life.

Wtf do I do? Going nuts

Go to your appointment and get the treatment you need. It's possible that it isn't even cancer...people who never smoked a day in their lives get lung cancer. Now is not the time to give up. Stay strong and get yourself well. Don't blame your mom either...you made the decision to smoke not her and she certainly didn't hold a gun to your head and make you keep smoking.

You don't do anything until you find out for sure what is going on.
Spots on lungs can be a number of things, lung cancer just one.
I am part of a breast cancer forum and there are several women there who had nodules on their lungs at the beginning of their treatment.
They waited until after treatment and had them checked again only to see that nothing had changed so they weren't spots of cancer.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if it is cancer then they probably found it earlier than they would have because of the chest ct.
One of the reasons cancer is so deadly is because that by the time it is found it has spread.
There is a good chance that you have caught it early enough for treatment to be very successful.

Good luck to you, I hope it is nothing sinister.
Waiting for scan results is the pits.
