Cervical Cancer Worries From Hpv While Pregnant. Anybody Else Dealt With This?

Postby Severne » Wed Feb 22, 2017 1:00 am

First off, this question will probably sound ignorant, but please forgive me because this happened like three years ago... Ok, so when I was pregnant with my second child in '09 (I'll be turning 25 in a few weeks), my pap smear came back irregular and it turned out cells could have been precancerous. Something to do with HPV and how pregnancy can cause the cells to grow quicker, but usually it goes away once the baby is born. Anyway, I was supposed to get a check up for it six months after I had him, but my doctor quit about ten weeks after I had my baby so I didn't get a reminder for it and needless to say, it slipped my mind (irresponsible, I know). Since we recently began trying for our third, I remembered. I'm just wondering if anyone else has went through this and ended up with the cells going into remission after birth or if it turned into cervical cancer. No, I'm not relying on this site to diagnose me, I'm just seeing what other people have experienced with this. Feel free to email me with more info, too :)

During pregnancy, there are obviously a lot of changes happening in your body, particularly around the womb and cervix. For this reason, it's common that women who have a pap smear during the later stages of their pregnancy get results that indicate some kind of change to the cells of the cervix (which is what a pap smear is looking for). The results that came back while you were pregnant are therefore relatively typical, and why your doctor would have recommended coming back 6 months after the birth of your baby. Since it's been longer than 2 years since that last smear it's best that you just go in for another check up, but don't be too anxious about the result you had in 09. Like all things of this nature it's best just to keep up to date as much as possible! Good luck trying for the second! :)

All I ought to say on the moment is "Bless you!" Your posting is really readable, and is smart. In case you are involved about whether or not your cervical cells could have come to be precancerous or cancerous you should get one more pap smear performed.

Yes I've been through it. Ended up having a biopsy up there and camera and then I fell pregnant with my first. I was warned pregnancy could make it worse then after baby is born if lucky it can actually help. 3 months after my daughter I went for smear and got the all clear. My daughter is now 4 and half and I'm 13 weeks pregnant again and have been clear since.

Good luck
