I'm curious because a friend of mine's doctor is pushing for her to get the HPV vaccine but she and her husband were both virgins and only ever been with each other.

HPV is not a punishment from God for living a bad life. It's a bug. No matter what her lifestyle, she has some nonzero chance of being exposed to it, and the costs of the vaccine to prevent it are nil.

How monogamous is this marriage? Some 40% of marriages are cheated on at some point. His mother could have given it to him at birth, or anyone when changing his baby diaper. They may divorce. She might be raped.

So what exactly would the down side be of getting a shot that lasts about 10 seconds and provides lifetime immunity from a dread disease?
