Can She Survive The First Stage Of Leukemia?

Postby chetzron98 » Sun Sep 17, 2017 8:16 am

My friend is 18 years old and just found out that she has the first stage of (acute) leukemia. She also has asthma and low blood pressure. Naturally, I'm extremely worried for her and I want to know if this particular stage is curable? Can it be treated?

Thanks in advance, your answers are all greatly appreciated.

Can you be clearer about her condition? Acute leukemias are not staged.
What kind of acute leukemia does she have? Acute lymphoblastic leukemia or acute myeloid leukemia? Which kind within those categories?

Whichever kind it is (ALL vs. AML) and particular variant within that (pre-B, T-cell, APL, etc.), it can be treated.
It's impossible for anyoen here to determine if she will be treated successfully.
Prognosis depends on many things, such as age, white blood cell count at diagnosis, cytogenetics, and response to early treatment.
