Can Hyperparathyroidism Can Depression?

Postby Bresal » Sun Oct 08, 2017 8:55 pm

Bascialy I was on lithium for 5 months and my calium levels where high so I got refered to a specialist and he blamed it on lithium? Ive done my own research and lithium can only effect a thyroid after 10 years of using it. He also said hyperparathyroidism cant cause depression, loss of sex drive or any type of thing like that.

Bascialy I feel like **** , Depressed, Iam on two types of medications cymbalta and avanza, I Felt good on cymbalta then I crashed and felt like ****, So now iam on avanza now I felt good and i feel like complete **** again, So bascialy pills kept getting thrown at me and iam feeling like **** , for no reason ?? My life is great yet I feel like my mind is plagued. I feel fatigued,Depressed I have a sex drive of zero and cant have sex without having erreciton trouble and then if i get it up i wont feel anything anyway. Iam only 23 years old why the hell do I feel like hell is in my mind?

Iam seeing my pyschatrist soon I will tell him how I feel and I think he will put me on a stimulant as he spoke about it in the past, Bascialy iam feeliing like complete **** and I dont know why, But iam blaming a bad parathyroid glan. But the specialist says its because of lithium, Iam getting blood work done in a month to test for thyroid again....... Finnaly this is like 5 months wait

Bascialy the specialist doesnt seem to think its anythiing to worry about, Ive done a tonne of research and shows that it can cause depression/feeling bad/ lack of sex drive

My head feels ******, And iam trying to find out why and doctors just **** me around. Looks like i'll get a stimulant next week so I might be able to smile.

Can Hyperparathyroidism Can Depression?

For the record my sex drive isnt related to my anti depressants. I lost my sex drive when I was on no medication at all. So bascialy I had no sex drive for months and I wasnt on any type of medication. So anti depressants cant be blamed.

I beg to differ, Herbal **** is a waste of time, Ive tryed it sure it helped, but NOTHING compared to this medication. Sure I feel like **** but I still feel alot better then I did when i wasnt on anything. But I keep crashing thats the problem

Can Hyperparathyroidism Can Depression?

Postby Ulises » Sun Oct 08, 2017 9:07 pm

the common mnemonic doctors use for remembering the effects of hyperparathyroidism is:

bones, stones, moans, groans

ie - Joint pains and problems

kidney and gall stones

depression

abdominal pains.

so yes it may be partly down to your endocrine problem - the treatment is the same though as long as your calcium levels etc are withing normal levels
