Bladder Cancer

Postby Dafydd » Mon Apr 11, 2016 8:39 pm

My brother's bladder was removed and the cancer had spread to lymph nodes and chemo was necessary although he dealt with several infections which delayed the beginning of these treatments and continued to interrupt treatments. The cancer spread and he died last October. Now a dear friend faces bladder cancer and was treated initially with a form of TB cells being put into his bladder. A test today shows there is still cancer in the stomach "muscle"(we had always talked in terms of the stomach lining and wall with my brother). My friend has been told that the bladder MUST be removed but he will undergo chemo before this is done. Is this a new approach possibly to avoid the numerous infection interruptions that my brother endured? I welcome any advice. Thank you.

Bladder Cancer

Well, I do not know exactly what kind of chemo therapy your brother received or what is intended for your friend. So I do not know if they are identical or not. However if his bladder has spread outside the bladder chemo therapy is most probably necessary in order to try to make his tumor more suitable for surgical treatment. All such therapies have risks but not to do them is even more risky!
