Are The Fumes From Sealing Anti Static Bags Dangerous?

Postby Roibin » Wed Sep 06, 2017 8:36 am

I have a shrink wrap system at home and shrink wrap items from time to time. Just today I used the sealer to seal some items in anti static bags. I was wondering if anyone knew if it's dangerous to breathe in the little bit of smoke that comes out? I'm not sure what kind of chemicals those silver colored anti static bags are made from.

I just bought a mask to be safe. But wanted to double check. Thanks!

Are The Fumes From Sealing Anti Static Bags Dangerous?

Yes, very dangerous. My father died from mesothelioma or lung cancer as a result of testing the machines that seal the bags . . . just like your machine. It was a long time ago before people realized the nature of the toxic vapors, so good thing you have the mask. It's also a good idea to do this in a well ventillated room because the vapors remain in the air for quite some time after you've finished and think it's safe to remove the mask, when in reality it's not.
